Info
Founded in 1904, the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) is the umbrella organisation of its members, currently 211 national football associations. Its main objectives, enshrined in its statutes, are to develop football around the world, to stage international competitions and to protect the integrity of football (against match manipulation, doping etc.). FIFA is composed of a number of political bodies (such as the FIFA Congress and the FIFA Council) and the administration. The highest political position is the FIFA President, elected every four years by FIFA’s member associations. The FIFA administration, with more than 800 people from over 60 nations, is based in Zurich. It is run by the Secretary General (CEO). FIFA stages FIFA World Cups™ in various forms such as youth, men’s and women’s, futsal, beach soccer or club competitions. The men’s FIFA World Cup™ is not only the most popular single sporting event in the world but also the financial backbone for FIFA and its efforts to develop football worldwide. The financial success of the FIFA World Cup™ allows FIFA to run a wide range of football development programmes and to provide funds, infrastructure and know-how to its member associations through the FIFA Forward Development Programme. A robust anti-doping programme at the FIFA Club World Cup™ ✅ With the assistance of national anti-doping organisations around the globe, FIFA successfully delivered an extensive anti-doping programme covering all teams involved in the inaugural FIFA Club World Cup™. A total of 1,159 samples were produced and 738 tests conducted before and during the competition - with 400 tests carried out directly by FIFA. FIFA also partnered with USADA during the tournament, with the US agency providing local Doping Control Officers (DCOs) to complement FIFA’s own DCOs in conducting out-of-competition testing on the teams participating in the tournament. Comprehensive testing before and during the competition, strong cooperation with global anti-doping organisations and the collection and analysis of hundreds of samples all contributed to a highly successful anti-doping programme. The FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ will reach its historic conclusion this Sunday at MetLife Stadium, and the honour of officiating the final between Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea FC has been awarded to one of the game’s most accomplished referees: Alireza Faghani. Mr Faghani, who opened the tournament in Miami last month, will now close it at the highest level. A two-time AFC Referee of the Year, his résumé includes the final of the Men’s Olympic Football Tournament Rio 2016 and multiple FIFA World Cups — and this Club World Cup final will mark his fourth match at the tournament. “This is the first FIFA Club World Cup and it’s a real pleasure to be a part of such an important tournament,” said Mr Faghani. “We prepared for two weeks, working on all aspects — team tactics, practical and medical — and now I’ve received the final. I’m 47 years old, and this will be one of my last tournaments. I try to enjoy every moment.” FIFA Referees Committee Chairman Pierluigi Collina praised the level of officiating throughout the tournament and highlighted the difficulty of selecting a final match official from such a strong group. “When we decide the referee for a final, we always take into consideration several factors — especially the performances delivered during the competition,” said Mr Collina. “It was a very, very difficult decision because many referees deserved the final. We chose Alireza Faghani and his team because we are convinced they are the best team for the final.” Mr Faghani will be joined by assistant referees Anton Shchetinin and Ashley Beecham, fourth official Facundo Tello, reserve assistant referee Gabriel Chade, and video assistant referee Bastian Dankert. As the curtain closes on this groundbreaking edition of the FIFA Club World Cup™, FIFA extends its gratitude to all match officials whose preparation, professionalism, and performance helped make the competition a success. The FIFA Clearing House is reshaping the global transfer system by ensuring that clubs are fairly rewarded for developing players. Since its launch in November 2022, FCH has allocated over USD 500 million to more than 7,000 clubs worldwide - including USD 300 million in training rewards. Based in Paris, the FIFA Clearing House is a licensed payment institution regulated under EU law. It operates independently, though fully owned by FIFA, and acts as a centralised intermediary for training compensation and solidarity payments. The system automates transactions, enforces compliance checks, and charges no fees to clubs. FIFA Clearing House has processed more than 7,300 electronic player passports and hundreds of allocation statements - making the process faster, safer and more transparent, whilst ensuring those who invest in talent development are properly compensated. FIFA President Gianni Infantino said: "Beyond the significant economic impact, these numbers demonstrate that the system is effective and provides a considerable contribution to increasing transparency and financial integrity in the football transfer system. This is groundbreaking; this is fantastic. For some of the smaller training clubs, even small amounts make a big difference. They deserve it." Read more: https://lnkd.in/egJKKJn2

Introducing the Arabic version of the FIFA Disability Toolkit 🙌 To mark the launch of the Arabic edition of the FIFA Disability Toolkit, FIFA has delivered a workshop for the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, around the key concepts of the toolkit, showcasing how to facilitate the inclusion of people with various forms of disability in different football game adaptations and accessible infrastructure. FIFA launched the Disability Football Toolkit in December 2024, to help support and enhance opportunities for disabled people. The toolkit has been designed to support the global advancement and sustainability of Disability Football opportunities and structures and the inclusive and active participation of disabled people in all aspects of the beautiful game. According to the World Health Organization, 1.3 billion people, or 16% of the world’s population, experience some form of disability – and this number is expected to increase. One of FIFA’s key missions as world football’s governing body is to promote inclusion for all in the game, including disabled people and people with limited mobility. Following the presentation, the session concluded with a Q&A about the practical application of the toolkit, regional opportunities and FIFA’s future strategies in the field of disability football.
